artnet Auctions Presents the LUMAS Online Charity Auction

(PRWEB) November 09, 2011

Since July 2011, the region of the Horn of Africa, above all Somalia, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Djibouti, has been afflicted by unfathomable disaster. According to the UN, nearly 13 million people are threatened with starvation, among which more than 320,000 are malnourished children, in danger from nutritional deficiency. *

To improve the situation in East Africa, the LUMAS Editions gallery wants to set an example. Together with artnet Auctions, LUMAS will auction off 20 sold-out pieces from the LUMAS portfolio. 100% of proceeds from this photography charity auction will be donated to three important aid organizations: Médecins Sans Frontières, UNICEF, and Humanitarian Initiative Just Relief Aid.

The charity auction will take place from November 8 to November 22, 2011 on the online auction platform, artnet Auctions. The 20 most quickly sold-out highlights from the portfolio will be auctioned, the edition of which will be the highest number, respectively, from the LUMAS collection. Included are the photograph Tankstelle Blauer See by renowned industry and architecture photographer Heinrich Heidersberger, the portrait Jaime Rishar by Michel Comte, as well as Robert Lebeck’s New York 1967. Other artists in the auction include names as diverse as Floris M. Neusüss, Youssef Nabil, Wolfgang Joop, or Han Lei.

Anyone can place a bid; only a quick registration with artnet Auctions is necessary to participate. Through a successful auction, we hope to make a contribution to fighting famine in Africa.
